Protection against this is provided by disposable plastic gloves, which, however, can basically only limit the risk of infection by taking special care when changing them regularly. As a rule, however, people who are not familiar with the risks of smear infections are overwhelmed by this and such gloves are of course also contaminated through contact with contaminated surfaces and if the gloves come into careless contact with mucous membranes, such as in the area of the nose, mouth or eyes, the pathogens can quickly become and penetrate unhindered into the body and cause diseases. After touching a contaminated surface, such as a handrail in a bus, a tram or the like, immediate hand washing is required to avoid contamination. As a rule, however, there are no devices available that allow immediate hand washing. The same applies to doorknobs, especially in public areas, such as administration buildings, in which there is a high level of public traffic. Basically, every doorknob would have to be disinfected after contact, which is of course hardly feasible in practice. Here the invention provides a remedy by a device with a substantially rectangular, two main surfaces having base body made of a flexurally elastic elastomer and a clamping device for receiving a cross-sectionally round or polygonal handle, which is arranged on one main surface and two spaced from each other arranged, there is a receiving space forming webs, wherein the receiving space is designed to be open to free ends of the webs. This device can be used as a spacer element between the body, namely the hand of a person and a contaminated handle. The base body can be taken in the hand and, when the handle is grasped, it encloses it over its substantial circumference, so that direct contact with the handle can be avoided. By forming the base body from a flexurally elastic elastomer, the base body can be adapted to the handle, with different diameters of the handle also having no effect on the geometry of the base body. What is important here is only a largely complete covering of an inner palm of the person handling it. A device according to the invention can be carried along in a simple manner in a trouser pocket, coat pocket or also handbag and used if necessary. On the base body, two webs forming a clamping device are arranged at a distance from one another, which preferably extend over the entire length of the base body. A clamping device into which the handle can be received is formed between the webs. A receiving space for the holding rod is thus formed between the webs, which is used to temporarily accommodate the handle and the temporary connection between the device and the handle. Due to the flexurally elastic properties of the base body, the connection between the device and the handle can be released again in a simple manner. The receiving space is preferably designed with a square cross-section, so that it is equally suitable for handles with a round as well as with a polygonal cross-section. The receiving space is preferably arranged between the webs in such a way that a diagonal of the receiving space is oriented essentially orthogonally to the main surface with the webs. This simplifies the installation of the device and still ensures good contact between the device and the handle, in order, for example, to be able to transmit a force sufficient to operate a door handle without the risk of slipping. According to a further feature of the invention it is provided that the base body and the webs are integrally formed with one another. This simplifies the production of the device, for example in an extrusion process, so that even large numbers can be produced in a short time. The handling of the device according to the invention can be improved in that the base body has two bulges arranged on longitudinal edges, in particular in the form of webs rounded at free ends, which are aligned essentially parallel to the webs forming the receiving space. These bulges serve to improve the introduction of force during the process of releasing the device from the handle. In order to improve handling, it can further be provided that the base body has a friction-increasing structure, in particular semicircular projections, in the region of its main surface opposite the webs forming the receiving space. This improves the friction fit between the palm of the hand and the device. A further improvement of the device according to the invention is achieved in that at least the main surface having the receiving space has an antibacterial and / or antiviral coating at least between the webs and on the mutually facing side surfaces of the webs. This prevents these surfaces of the device from becoming too heavily contaminated after use as intended and from triggering illness upon contact. Finally, it has proven advantageous that the base body is made of polyethylene, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, silicone rubber or ethylene-propylene-diene rubber. These materials are particularly suitable due to their flexibility and high abrasion resistance.
